Default St. John question

I just went to the recommended site of www.vinow.com and I got some good information regarding the availability of renting snorkel equipment - anyone know prices?

I don't know the prices there, but we finally purchased our own snorkel gear locally around this time of year when it was being clearanced out. I know it's more "stuff" to lug along... but we got some good snorkel fins/mask/snorkel-thing for a great deal on end-of-summer clearance. You can check places like Bass Pro Shops, Academy, Oshman's, etc. (or even ebay) Now by having our own, we can go to the beaches that are less-touristy and snorkel (not worry about renting), and also snorkel on the cruiseline private islands. For our upcoming cruise, we'll do some hiking on St John and snorkel at the beaches on the trail with fewer people (vinow also lists some great hikes) Just an idea...

Thank you for the reply. My husband and I were just discussing it and we want to get our own equipment- we just aren't sure how many places still have it available at this time of year.

personally, getting your own is best, but if you can't find any then i would suggest that you rent it from the ship. Its better gear (more sanitary) and its cheaper than renting it on the beach.
