So far, so good with the new director, Carol! We're very much alike. Won't stay on here long. The server was down all day yesterday and this AM. There is kind of a thunderstorm going on outside my window-heavy rain, thunder, lightning and the sun is out to the West. Go figure. Wish I could see a Caribbean sunset right now!!
Better go and eat my leftover mac and cheese Trevor made last night. My ride for choir practice comes in a few minutes. I just got home from work. The State has been in since Monday. Oh, joy!!!! Bye. Love Lynnie---Hi, Ashee, Angie, J Bon, Spook
Gee, you remembered how to do it! J Bon, you are such a good teacher! I'm very envious, Lushes!
Our server has been down for a couple of days again. We think that there's a problem coming into the outlet box (strip)-like a short. Trevor turned off the power again and left it off for about 5 minutes then turned it back on,and voila!.This was after checking all lines outside and the box outside and him almost having a blow-up over the inability to get the cable people out here in a timely manner. Then, when they do come, the problem has fixed itself. So, whenever I'm not online for a couple of days it's usually because of a server problem. I'll let you know when I'll be away.
The thought of a cruise sounds so-o-o good right now! The one good thing about these hurricanes is that we are getting a lot more sunshine in our back yard now that several limbs have come down. But- WE- are ready to go out of town-maybe to St.Petersburg and Joe's yacht!!!
Take care for now.Your countdown will take us through Christmas and into the new year. Yeah for you!!!! Love, Lynnie-ROSE
Happy Sunday! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing. We were online and caught them during the 2nd quarter. Now, we're serious spectators-I'm in the spare room and am watching the game on the TV that is on the other side of the screen room that is in our bedroom. Florida is great for some things. !
Take care. ROSE
I'm getting really envious of you all going on cruises in January!!! *smile*. I'll have to follow you on WEBCAM!
Good morning!!! Hope you had a great weekend. I did not do to much this weekend. I had to work on Friday as I was off the Monday before so it was a short weekend for me.
Yes, I can't believe I am going on another one so soon. I hope the money thing works out, if not I guess I will have to charge it and pay it off when I get back right? As I see it I will only turn 50 once and this is what I want to do for me. I am worth it. I am in DD already. Time will go by fast, especially with the holidays. We have a small roll call going on cruise lines RCL. So far there are 14 of us. But the neat thing is that one of the ladies Judy was on the CP when we were. Can you believe that. Small world. Tell Trevor they have really good rates on Travelocity and Travelocity is giving another $100 off that price. You could go with me, I would love that. Did you get your $150 from Travelocity this week? I received mine, that was fun, Well must get busy.
Bon was good to hear from you.
Lynne, we decided to come into Miami on Sat, because you never know about that crazy Ohio winter weather, so do you know of any good places to stay there that has airport shuttles and peir trasport?
Hey, I would love to go with you, but Trevor thinks you already have a roommate! As for Miami, I'm not all that familiar with that city as I am Ft. Lauderdale. We have picked up our neighbors at the Miami Airport and there are some hotels around there, but I don't know their plans. The Ft. Lauderdale Airport is between that city and Miami. And, you are right. You ARE worth it, so why not treat yourself! It is really neat that you have another CP person going with you. At least you have our cruise to talk about and share stories with. Did you get the last part of the review? I sent it to your home email.
Isn't Orient Beach on St. Thomas? A good friend of ours asked a question about St. Maarten and what to do there, and someone wrote in about Orient Beach. Now, on St. Lucia, where our friend is going, there is horseback riding. I think he and his family and friends who enjoy that.
I'm hoping I get an extra special Christmas present so that I can afford to go on another cruise. We've hit some unexpected expenses here. Yes, we got our Travelocity money back and have started to spend it already. Did yours come in the form of a credit card?
Trevor said you might check into South Beach-but I don't know how far that is
from the port. I know we passed the Port going into South Beach, can't tell you how, though.
Well, there's no World Series game tonight, and Monday Night Football doesn't start until 9PM, so we may play Scrabble awhile. I beat Trevor 3 games in a row the other day. Tell Angie!!!! Bye, Lynnie-Rose
Good morning Lynne. It is a big 45 this morning and is suppose to get to 70 today. Heat wave. Better enjoy it as that nasty weather is coming. I think I need to come to Flordia. I wouldn't mind moving there if I knew I had a job. I have always wanted to live there. When Ashley's Dad got out og the service, I begged him to move there, that is how much I hate snow. Orient Beach is in St. Maarten. Part of it nude beach. Not me . I posted out there about hotels and I was told to use priceline, have you ever used them? I was hoping to find one that would take us from the airport and to the port the next day.
I love it you beat Travor. That will keep him on his toes. How did you do last night? Well must get busy, lots to do today. Have a GREAT day. Tell Trevor hello.
Hi Carol and Everyone,
I've never used Priceline. I saw on the other posts that another site was listed-something like lowbidding.com? Check it again. I don't know if that's the right address.
I've been up since 6:30 when I put the garbage out. It finally got light about 7:15AM. I'll be glad for the time change, then it will be light when I get up.
We are supposed to dress up in costume on Friday for Halloween at work. You know, Activities has to play the game! I'm running out of ideas. I've been a mailman, witch, baseball player-maybe this year I can be a Bolts hockey player!! I have the shirt and the baseball cap. Or, maybe I can be a Princess Cruiser!!! ooh, ahh.
Speaking of games, Trevor elected to come on the computer and practice his blackjack, so kept myself busy-looked for a few things to take into work as part of a project, then wrote two REAL letters--one to my mother in New York State, one to my father in Toronto. At 9PM the Monday Night Football game came on. We also ordered a book from Amazon.com for one of the Residents.
That's it for now. I better get going so I can get into the AM Post on the People site.
What IS that beach on St. Thomas that is supposed to be nude, as well. There's Coki, Sapphire, and what's the other one that we didn't want to go to on the Godrey tour? You'll have to check it out when you're down there!
Good morning. Just thought I would say hello. Glad your Dr. appt. went well. I have to go to a kidney specialist tomorrow. Hope everything turns out ok. He will be testing me for the kidney disease that my Momhad and my sisters have. Hopefully I will be the lucky one and not have it. Then I have to take my one dog to the vet to talk about putting her to sleep. This is sooooo hard. She is 17 deaf, can hardly see, is forgetting how to get back in the house when she goes out to the bathroom, and the night before last she kept me up all night whinning. I took her once and the vet talked me into not doing it. She hates to put the animal down, but now with her whinning, I think she is suffering and I don't want her to do that. I just wish I could give her a pill at home while she is lying on her pillow and sh just fall off to sleep. It would be easier I think. Enough of that before I start crying again.
I found a hotel to stay in in Miami, so we should be all set now, I hope. 94 days and counting. I have e-mailed Godfrey to get our spot reserved. Well must get busy here at work. Have a great day.
That is always a terrible decision to make about our pets.
My Columbus son, Jamie, will be coming to Florida December 8-14.He's flying into Ft. Lauderdale and we will probably get him from the airport and take him to our hotel, our little place we always stay where we've all made reservations already. Nina Lee. You know what that means, don't you? We'll get to see the Airport up close-we've always driven by it, see your hotel where you stayed, then go in and cross the 17th St. Causeway Bridge where OUR ship was docked, and then see her-the Caribbean Princess on that Saturday morning, Dec.11. That will be so-o-o-o cool! Maybe I'll make Trevor get up early that day so we can see her come in like we did in May. I'll relive the cruise. The good thing will be that we'll be on our way back home before I have to watch her leave port in the afternoon.
So, being down there will be our "vacation". I have to save some days to see my mother in November and December, so we'll only be down there the Wed, Thurs, and Friday nights, and be able to be back here for my Chorale's concert Saturday night.
I'll go for now. Good luck with your tests!
Hi Everybody!!! I hope you're all doing OK. Love, Lynnie-ROSE
Well Friday sucked. I had to go to the kidney specialist yesterday to find out that I have the same kidney problem as my sisters and mother. He thinks I probally have kidney stones and have to hve a CT san this Friday. He says I will probally have to have surgery and I can't afford to off work any. I have to keep remembering God is in charge and One Day At A Time. Then I took Maggie (my 17 yr. old dog ) to the vet and we had to put her to sleep. Ashley and I have cried till I don't think I can cry anymore. I will miss her so. I couldn't sleep last night and was up at 5am and went to the store. I think I keep hearing her. I am going to order her a marker now. The vet did not even charge me and today we received a sympathy card in the mail from them. She is wonderful.
Well almost time for those treaters to come, must get ready.
I'm sorry about your news on both fronts. What a lousy way to start a weekend! You'll get through it. I'm not going to preach. Hope you feel better soon.
Well, yesterday, I really looked outlandish in my outfit and actually won a prize for it-a Nestle's Crunch Bar--CHOCOLATE, Ashee!!!
I bought a pink/black punk rocker wig at Walmart first. Then I had to figure out what to wear with it. I've had this orange/lime green/pink/deep yellow large plaid designed cotton skirt in my closet. I'd gotten it at an outlet mall several years ago and it never did fit right. It is above the knee. Then I put a fushia color (deep pink)polo shirt with it, with a lime green shirt I've had forever over it. Then I remembered that I had lime green panty hose that I'd picked up several years ago from somewhere, and put orangy ankle socks over them. Finally, I had tennis shoes that had neon colored shoelaces in them. I'd taken them on a cruise with those shoelaces so if anything happened to me, I could be identified by the shoelaces!! The final touch was Trevor's large yellow sunglasses that fit over my glasses. I had that punk "something" look. Many people thought I looked like Chuckie, from the Rugrats. I was called a clown, a Haight/Ashbury Hippy from San Francisco from the 60's. ( I forgot to mention my jewelry) One of the sweetest old guys made the joke about me looking better than I do normally. Another resident said I looked "skinny" in that outfit. (He'd asked me if I was gaining weight last week). Anyway, I had great fun with it. Knowing that I'm usually pretty conservative, it was the last thing that the Staff and Residents expected out of me! Trevor took a picture of me, so I'll send it along.
Trevor had me get up to go to breakfast this morning hosted by our chiropractor. My new boss goes to Eric, too, and when I mentioned it last night, she said that she and her hubby thought it was in November. Trevor was supposed to have called over there yesterday to find out,but "forgot". I emailed Eric and called his cell phone, but no answer. This morning we went up to the supposed restaurant, but new flooring was being put down, so I guess it IS next week. I missed my Chorale practice this AM, and will have to miss it again next week, now. The good news was that we went to Bob Evans for breakfast instead.
My son, Jamie, has confirmed his plans for December so we will be going down Dec. 8 to pick him up at the Ft. Lauderdale airport--9:10AM. That means we have to leave here at 6AM. Ugh! But, it will be nice to be down there again, and, we'll see OUR ship when she's in on the 11th. Have you seen vav's pictures? Most of them are of Kathy, or him and Kathy, or him and Joe and Kathy and Kelly!!
That's it for tonight. We played two games of Scrabble this afternoon. Trevor won the first one, and I trounced him the second game. It helps when I get good letters!!
Hello Lynne, your costume sounds cute. They dressed up at work on Friday also but I was not there. Ashley, Dustin, and a couple of there friends and Ron all dressed up as I was passing out candy on Sat. and scared the little kids to death. They had chain saws fogg, light, it was funny. They had a blast.
Glad your son is coming for a visit, you will enjoy that. I mailed you Angie's email address so you will have it.
Time for bed, this time change is gettingthe best of me today along with everything else. Talk to you later.
Hi Carol and Gang,
I was going to send you a picture of me in my costume over the weekend, but it hasn't been saved properly and Trevor has to keep going back in to the computer to get it. Never fear, it WILL appear!
Today is voting day-nothing like doing it at the last minute. I'll probably do it after work as I've done in the past. I could have done it early at work or the Courthouse, but didn't want to go through the hassle of changing my precinct, etc. I've not had any long lines to wait in out here where I live.
My new boss is already harried in the position.Yesterday, she asked "Do I really want to do this?" There's a lot of paperwork involved, and long term energy required, and, follow-up. All our Activities Staff have been involved in joint meetings the last couple of weeks, including my retiring boss. However, most of the focus and attention is on the Health Care Center (nursing home) issues. I can see why my old boss didn't include me in those meetings. By the time it's my turn to speak, we're just about out of time to discuss anything.I have given her a written list of MOST of what I do, along with the stating of my current wage. Perhaps she'll do something about THAT.
I've been up since 6AM and now it's 7:20AM and will head over to the People Board for the morning check-in.
J Bon, Spook, Ashee and Angie, I trust you are all doing well.Ashee, it sounds as if you and Dustin and Dad had a great Halloween night!! Love, Lynnie-Rose
Trevor hasn't come up with a short cruise for us yet. Boo Hoo.
The sun is shining and we'll get up to the mid-80's.Tonight a cold front will be moving through so we'll be in the 70's for the next few days with lows in the mid-50's.
Yesterday flu shots were given. The Independents were supposed to start getting them at 2:30, downstairs in the Library, following the Assisted Living upstairs at 1:30. Well, by the time the nurses got downstairs after having to go through the paperwork needed to give the shots, it was about 3:15-3:30! I had been requested to be the "traffic cop". I got back from the store and the Lobby by the Library was full already--an hour early!! I took the advice of one of the Residents and started giving out numbers. By the time Everyone was through, it was about 5PM, and the Dining Room doors were open for supper. There went a perfectly good afternoon!
Needless to say, I didn't get my Bon Appetit (cooking class) done, so I went to the store for nothing. Now I have 2 defrosted cakes and some decorations to deal with(and dispose of) and today is the weekly donut run.
It is Red Hat Luncheon Day today, following my Bingo, and donut run, so I'll be off to a busy start!!
Trevor found a couple of cruises to Nassau for the time we'll be down in Ft. Lauderdale. One is on the Fascination, the other one is Majesty of the Seas. Jamie could have his own room with a bunkbed, but surely, no one would be put with him,or, not?
Better go. It's almost 8AM.
J Bon and Spook--how is your countdown coming along? Are you on an active Board/Thread? Love, Lynnie/ROSE
We haven't posted since Nov. 4, so I thought I'd get us back up to the top.
The temperature that the computer has in my tool bar says 53 degrees--Brrrrrr! It's supposed to get up near 79 and sunny today. The sun is shining brightly already.
My parents and brother are leaving from southwest New York State today to start coming down to the Winter home on the Gulf Coast. It's not a minute too soon ,either, as very cold, and perhaps, ugly, weather is predicted up there. I hope that Trevor and I get to see them on Friday before Pete has to fly back north. He's driving them down.
It looks as if we won't be taking any weekend cruise while in Ft. Lauderdale. I honestly didn't think we would. It's just an extra expense, and Trevor would be hard pressed to leave the convertible in Miami. Jamie doesn't see himself on a cruise ship this year, especially on a weekend.
That does it for now. Angie, I'm glad you liked your picture. Fig 414 has now posted his pictures on the other site. Pretty darn good!!! I makes me want to go back.
Bye for now. Hi J Bon, if you're looking in! Love, Lynnie-ROSE
Good morning. I have been off as I went camping for the last time this year. Now i have lots of work to catch up on and now I will work on Friday.
Have your parents arrived yet? Hope you get to see your brother. How far will they be from you? I miss my parents lots. My father died in 1997 and my mother in 2001. I was VERY close to them. Kind of like Ashley and I with me and my Mom.
I must get busy, just wanted to say hi.
My mother and step-father and brother (half-brother) should have left yesterday. My former sister-in-law dropped the two younger boys off at Pete's on Sunday until 7PM which really loused up his plans for packing and doing a few things before he left. Pete lives about 16 miles north, or so, of Mom and Dad. My father and step-mother live up in Toronto. Both of my natural parents are ailing to the point that I don't see them living a real long life. Mom is 77 and Daddy is 79.They have withstood some really bad medical endictments over the last few years. The step-parents have ailments of their own, two. Both sets will be celebrating their 50th (Mom) and 49th (Daddy) wedding anniversary -to different people- in June and Sept. I'm glad I came along when I did!!
The morning temp is showing 60 degrees so it has warmed up a tad since yesterday. We are due to get the Northeastern wind for the next few days so it will be breezy and the predicted 79 degrees won't feel stifling-actually kind of brisk. But, it's sunny.
I trust your camping trip went well, with no rain this time! I know the snow was supposed to move into the Western New York area yesterday, near where my family lives, so I hope they were able to get away without putting chains on their tires. At least fasteddie got to see his Buffalo Bills win.
Take care for now. There are several activities lined up at work this week. I'm taking Friday off so I can see the parents and Pete before he goes back up north. They are 2 hours from here, so, depending on how my mother is doing, we'll either go to their house, or meet at a Cracker Barrel about halfway.
I haven't checked your new roll call recently. How is it going?? Rich and Fran are on the Caribbean Princess Sept.17,2005 site on the other board.
Boy, am I ready to go again!! This morning I showed my cruise video of our Oct. 2001 trip to the Eastern Caribbean aboard the Golden Princess. I forgot I had it until I went looking for my 1998 Sun Princess cruise tape to the Western Caribbean. WOW. I felt like I was aboard that ship again. Even saw my cabin--A-303! It just made me want to go down there so badly-again.
The tape showed St.Maarten, St. Thomas, St. John, Princess Cays, and Ft. Lauderdale, and the excursions with them, along with inside looks of the Ship-including Skywalkers!
J Bon and Spook, and your families, you are going to have such a good time!! Carol, you will see the same places on Radiance. Now, I'm ready to book the Caribbean Princess again for next Sept, to go with Rich and Fran, and any others from our group. I don't know if Trevor will go for that unless I can find someone to share the room. It gets too expensive for him, especially in the Casino. My heart is just a thumpin' away!!
In other news, the cool/front came through today. The morning weatherman said that a "few" clouds may come by but "not to worry"-rain would remain mostly along the Coast. HA! We must be the Coast! The clouds started to thicken late this afternoon. It was pouring around 5PM-just as it was time to leave work--and it's still rainy. Blah!!
But, at least it's not snow!!
Better go for now-I'm going out in a few minutes-Church Cantata rehearsal.
Take care. Lynne
Good morning. It is warmer here today. It is 43 now and going to be a high of 60. Wish I had your weather.
Hope that your Mom arrives safely and you get to visit with them.
The camping trip did go well. Little cold one night, but no rain.
I wish I could afford to go with you in Sept., but cannot swing it with my Jan. one, and I really want to go to celebrate my birthday. Everything is in order for it except the insurance. I wanted to use the same one as I used on the other one, but wanted to make sure they paid off before I used them again. I have now received my check and was very pleased with them, so I will use them again. Did I tell you I received a letter from Princess stating they would not refund me my money on the roses after they said they would. They said the person that said that should not have and they would not refund my money. All they said was they were sorry I was disappointed. I was a little disappointed in them. Now I know how the people that went after us felt with them on a smaller scale.
Carol, sorry about the refund thing. That is disappointing. At least some compensation should have been given in the name of good public relations.
As far as a September cruise goes, it's still in the "pipe dream" stage for me. Trevor still wants to go somewhere OTHER than the Caribbean. He acknowledges that it is an inexpensive venue, closeby, convenient, safe-all those things. But he is also a dreamer, and still has the idea of taking a transatlantic cruise either over and back and seeing some of the European sights such as, London or Naples--he was in the Med with the Navy and has a "hankerin'" to get back there. Of course, he'd have to take several swigs of "koolaid" to calm him down before flying anywhere-especially 8 hours. Where is the Concorde when you need it--out of business!
The weather looks great so far today. It will be breezy, though.
I have taken the rest of my vacation days for the year, so I either have to get sick or go without pay. As a matter of fact, my morning will be without pay Friday, so I can have the entire day off to go over and see the parents and brother.Trevor told me that I was missing two hours on my last paycheck. I'm sure I put in the paperwork for two Drs app'ts, and now I'll have 3 hours gone WOP. So, I better get into work early to make up some time, plus stay late to get some more. That probably doesn't sound kosher, being a business manager, but the Facility gets so much "volunteer" time from me,that it is making money on me, while I'm losing it.
Last night I remembered I have an 11am app't-yearly
xray- so must remember to leave promptly after Bingo, after telling Boss, Carol, and then making sure my app't slip is turned in so I get paid for that time off the clock.
Bye for now. Have a wonderful day, Y'all! Love, Lynnie-ROSE
Good morning. It was a quite weekend for me, nothing really happening. How was your visit with you brother? Hope your Mom is feeling better.
We are having our Family Thanksgiving dinner here at work this Thursday so I will have to work until 9pm. Big event.
I think it is about time for J-Bon to check in don't you? J-Bon where are you?
Got to get busy. Tell Trevor hello
J Bon has found himself an active Roll Call on the other site! I did put my two cents in there last night and told them what a good guy he is. I did mention the "Bon Girls" but not by our "code names"! I'll look in there from time to time like I do yours-although I haven't done that in awhile, and essentially let him and his family and friend (we know who that is, too) alone. No sense in stepping on their independent venture.
The visit with my brother, Pete, and parents was okay, considering. Most of the drama took place on their way down here, and after we left to come home Friday evening.Pete and my stepdad have basically been Mom's nursemaid-cleaning her up after her accidents, listening to her cries of pain, etc. She fell in the bathroom in the morning before we got there. That ended any idea she had of us going for a walk. The unfortunate thing is that her mind is pretty well intact. It's just that her body is failing her. Pretty soon, a decision will be made concerning long term care if her needs outweigh the ability of my stepdad to handle them. They'll try to hold on, and continue Home Health as long as they can, but at some point........and you and I both know what that means.
We are having a little taste of Fall down here. There has been a hefty breeze blowing in from the Northeast, and it was really overcast yesterday. They almost looked like snow clouds! Little rain, though, and none predicted for the next couple of days. It looks as if the sun will be out pretty soon. The current temp is 63 degrees.
Trevor ordered a travel version of Scrabble and an Electronic Dictionary! He really means business now! . Our paper dictionary is falling apart. Word scramble can also be played on this machine, and there are levels from beginner to skilled. So far, we are in the beginners spot-as some words we've never heard of before. He was happy this weekend; he beat me twice. The travel game would be good for a cruise because it's all contained in a zippered "binder", and the tiles fit into the spaces. Small, though. We played on it the other night-you just have to remember where your doubles are so you don't have to pull out the tiles again.
It's 8AM. I have to check in on the Good Morning Board. Bye for now. Love, Lynnie-ROSE
Hay Girls just wanted to say HI!!! Thanks Rose for the nice comments on the other board and your more than welcome to join with all of your great info you a very helpfull. Trouble how have you been good to see you on the boards!!!
p.s. spook won't be able to make the cruise so my sister inlaw and her new husband are going with her two boys.
Thanks for the note, J Bon. As I said, I don't intend to harrass you over there, but will check in from time to time to see how you are all doing. You're welcome, for the comments. You are a great guy, and we thank you for all your support these past several months. Sorry that Spook can't go with you, but, there will be another time, I hope.
We Bon girls seem to be holding together. You can see that Lushes and I chat about every day, and Trouble and L'il Sis join in from time to time. We make a good team.
Take care, Y'all. Trevor just beat me at Scrabble again. But, he got all the good letters, and many words were made that closed us in,so that one whole corner of the board couldn't be used. But, he didn't beat me as badly as he thought he was going to do!
Goodnight. It's just about 10PM and this Rose is going to turn into a pumpkin pretty soon. The Dallas Cowboys/Philadelphia Eagles are playing now, too. I'll turn it on in the bedroom. Love, Lynnie-ROSE
Hi Gang...got off work a little early today so I thought I would catch up on the boards. It just isn't the same though as when we were getting ready to go. Well some of us still have that anxiety!!!!! Somebody who is going to be 50! I told Roy that I would like to go on a cruise with just the 2 of us. I don't know when or where but it will happen sometime. He and I haven't played scrabble for a while. I get bored winning all the time!!!! We just got another horse so he has been busy with it. Well Lynnne, J Bon, and all hope everyone has a great Turkey Day!!!
Yes some of us are still excited. It still won't match the other cruise. I don't think anything can top that vacation, but I am still excited. In debt but excited.
What is everyone doing for Turkey Day? I usually go to Angie's, but Ashley has to work this year from 7-7 so I am taking pitty on her and cooking so she will have a dinner. Spoiled Brat.
Well almost time to go home for the day. I thought I would check the boards out since the computers went down. Have a good night
