I will stopping in both Colon Panama and Puerto Limon Costa Rica. Has anyone done the Canopy aerial Tram tour in either port? Which one is better? The tour in Costa Rica has a 1 1/2 hour bus ride each way. Is the ride scenic?
We took the Aerial Tram & Ecological Encounter tour in Colon, Panama while on the Carnival Legend in March 2004. The description said the tram was 72 minutes long but that must of been a typo as it was no more than 15 - 30 minutes. They may have been including the time at the tower! Once you get off the tram you walk a short distance to a viewing tower. There are wide flat wooden walkways to the top. A pretty easy walk up. It provided a great view of the Panama canal. We then stopped at the Gamboa Resort which is quite the place. There was also a fantastic butterly Aviary where you can get some great pictures. Tour was about 5 hours and cost $99.00 US.
I would suggest the Toutugero canal tours of the rainforest in Costa Rica. Lots of animals to see. We say lots of monkeys, sloths, birds etc. Tour was around 4 1/2 hours and cost $84 US for adults and $75 US for kids. There will be lots of vendors by the boat selling wooden salad bowls etc.
P.S. It rains a lot in Costa Rica so if you are not going on a tour buy yourself a poncho at the $ store before you leave. It is a warm rain but you may find you don't want to walk around wet all day!!!
