It's the best choice for Cozumel there's plenty of car rentals directly off the ship so you get the car right there. Turn left out of there to head into town, and take a right if you want to be amazed! There's signs a few miles down for Mr Sanchos it will be a right turn down a long bummpy dirt road but it's the best. Beach, drinks, food, shops, water sports, horseback riding, atv's, etc... i think they have a web site anyway have a great time. Advice-get gas when you see it!!!
We do it all the time and have a wonderful day there cruising around. Just make sure that you fill the gastank after you get done so they don't charge you as it is very expensive for them to do so.
We have always done so after we arrive and have never had a problem. Be aware that they want cash and will not accept CC's or checks. They will ask for a CC as a deposit but when you turn the vehicle in they want cash.
jim, i rented and used a credit card with jo problem. the bill was in pesos, something like 330.00, which was about $33.00. i've done this about 3 times. the most recent time we went drove completely around the island and stopped at several different places. really enjoyed that. also, drive to a grocery store. great bargains on vanilla
and adult beverages.
Steve, I can only tell you that at the Executive Rental at the pier they would not take a CC and were prepared to call the police on one person that rented a car and had no cash on him when he returned. I have used a CC in the past with another agency at the furthest pier but I want to prepare anyone from being placed in a very bad situation like this young man was. He finally had someone he knew go to the ship and get a personal check cashed to bring him the cash.
jim, i believe we rented through alamo. make sure you check your car thoroughly and
note any damages. i met a man that said he had to pay for a windshield once in cozumel because he did not make note of the ding in the windshield. so, as jim says,
some do not accept cc. thanks for the warning.
