I'm looking for some Grand Cayman snorkeling ideas. I want to snorkel while my girlfriend is lazy suntanning on the beach. In other words: snorkel sights in reletively close range to a beach. Thanks a lot!
When you get off the tender, go to the right, just past the Atlantis sub place. There is a little dive shop (Edens Rock I believe)/restaurant there with some good snorkeling. Its rocky so you might want to wear some water shoes as you go down some rocky steps if I recall. There is no beach there though, but the shops are about a block away! Your other option would be Seven Mile Beach. There were some small reefs a short swim out from shore, but not like at Edens Rock, or going out on a tour. Why not send her to the beach and you do a tour (Stingray City is awesome). Then you will both be happy!
Eden's Rock has some awesome fish. Last time we were there it was really rough water but even our 10 year old got in and fought the waves. There is a little shop there were you can rent a locker for a few bucks, there isn't really a "beach" area so maybe by the time you disembark at Grand Caymen your girlfriend will have met some other people on the ship that are going to Seven Mile Beach, ask around at your dining table, down around the pool etc. It is always fun to meet new people. Have a good time.
I don't recall the web site, but there is one out there that lists 7 or so snorkel sites that are very good within walking distance from the dock. The instructions on how to get there are very explicit (e.g. 50 ft past the Burger King). Try a google search.
