Does anyone know of any beaches to hang out in Domenica? My husband is not interested in doing Trafalgar falls and the emerald pool. He thinks it's too steep and dangerous with our 12 year old daughter. But we also have 2 teenage sons who would probably be very interested. Are there any beaches?
Beach is not the strong point of this island and is the main reason it has never really been developed as a toursit destination. There is hardly a stretch of sand anywhere that can be called a beach. Perhaps the closest thing is up in the northwest corner near Portsmith.
Water sports like diving, snorkelling, kayaking and whale watching abound, just not off of any sandy beaches. Suggest you do some research on line or in a tourist guide like Fodor's or Frommer's to look for alternative activities. Having been to Emerald Pool and Trafalger falls I can suggest you skip both. Depending on the time of year you go, probably the best thing you could do would be whale watching with second best thing being sleeping late, and lunch by the pool on your ship.
