We did the Passion Island escape tour once before in December of 2003 and plan to do it again this April.
The tour has a bit of a bumpy bus ride to get to the ferry, but nothing uncomfortable.
The island has plenty of shade trees and lots of loungers and some hammocks...first come, first served. The open bar is nice for a cold beer, soda or mixed drink. The lunch they provide is really good and lots of it. Lunch is served buffet-style and can be eaten in the open-air restaurant/hut or taken back to your beach-site. We were told by our tour guide that the water they use is brought over from the mainland and is pure and potable.
The beach games organized by the tour people are fun for those wishing to participate. Ther are vendors at one end of the beach selling the usual items. Caution, the t-shirt and cover-up we bought really shrunk and was much too small later.
On the return trip by bus, you have the choice of returning directly to the ship or being dropped off for shopping. I think you you can walk from the shopping area to the ship.
All in all, we found this tour was an o.k. deal for the money.
My husband and I did this in 2003--was awesome. (on Costa Atlantica) purchased this tour on the ship. the water is clear, warm and absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the water for hours--was extremely hot. did NOT get sick from any of the food. was an extremely beautiful place to relax.
