Attention, VERY IMPORTANT!!

We have been talking about it for a long time here saying it will soon be necessary to have a passport so please get yours now. At first they just said everyone by 2008 which is true but misleading. It is now EVERYONE who travels by SEA or AIR to the Caribbean, Burmuda, or Panama to have a Passport by Dec. 31 2005 which means essentially everyone except those going on am Alaskian or Hawaiian cruise or one that goes to Mexico on the West Coast. By Dec. 31 2006 you will need one to travel by air or sea to anyplace, period. Then you will have to have one to even travel by land by Dec. 31 2007. Those friends of ours from Canada will be able to get a type of express pass for those that travel back and forth often and for low-risk types and that will be called a NEXUS card and the commercial type people will get a FAST card. Those going to Mexico will be able to get what will be called a SENTRI card.
WHAT IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO IS GET YOUR PASSPORT NOW!

We are going to need a passport to go to Hawaii by 12/2007? That is just crazy.

What about children? Will they have to have Passports? Or will a Birth Certificate still work for them? I am cruising with my children March 2006.

Children will need passports too. The new regulations apply to everyone.

Unless the cruise is directly to Hawaii which it won't be then yes you will need a passport. The only ones that won't need a passport are those on the NCL ships that remain in Hawaii. As for children, yes, they will also need a passport. I am not sure what the age limit is or will be. Check out the US Passport website. You can access it right here by clicking on the links.

Re: Attention, VERY IMPORTANT!!

I got my first passport when I started cruising three years ago and it's the best way to travel.

I always thought after 9/11 everyone should have some type of travel card assigned to them and you will always have to show it for air travel, cruising etc. Makes sense.
