Default St John's Ferry -and Sightseeing

How easy / difficult is it to hop on the ferry to St Johnís from the cruise ship pier at St Thomas and make a day of it in St Johnís? Is it easy to get around the island once off the ferry? Any particularly good beaches and local restaurants?

Cab to Red Hook is about $6 per person. From there frequent ferries run 10 to 15 minute ride to St John. Cabs are available to take you to any beach you want. Trunk Bay is the most popular.
My personal choice would be to take a cab just past Red Hook to Saphire Bay on St Thomas. Beach , snorkelling etc are just as nice if not nicer. While the others are still lined up for the ferry, you'll be on the beach.

Just to let you know, the ferry from Red Hook to St. John's runs every hour on the hour, starting at 8 a.m. It returns every hour on the half hour.

Its easy, you grab a cab at the pier, go to Red Hook Harbor - takes about 20 minutes, at the pier you buy a round trip ticket, hop on the ferry- leaves every hour on the hour, the trip over to St. John Island is a beautiful ride, once you dock at Cruz Bay there are lots of cabs - they are open air jitney types that will take to whatever beach you want - do your homework at this site- www.vinow.com
