Default Barbados Beaches?

What is the best beach in Barbados that's within a reasonable distance to the pier? We like to snorkel but we're just as happy building sandcastles - we just want a beautiful spot to spend the day! Thanks for any advice!

Hi Asasj,
You may consider a trip to Boatyard Beach in Barbados. Its not too far from the pier, we actually walked through town on the way back, took about half an hour walking. They do have beach activities, chairs and a restaurant/bar right there, its a fun beach and I've heard a lot of the crew will spend their free time there too. You can also rent jet skis, we did that and had a ball.

Barbados has probably the best LOT of beaches to be found in the Caribbean... (aside from St. John that is). Your missing so much if you stay close to the Pier area and don't explore this fantastic island.
Rent a car and circle the entire island, it's one of our favorite islands! One beautiful beach after another as you stop along your way!
Remember, your on a small island, how lost can you get. Go in a circle and you'll return to where you started. Duh!

Barbados: Loads of taxis available. We paid $40 return for 4 people to go to Accra Beach (hardly any tourists there, this was recommended to me on a forum by a local) it was lovely there, definitely recommend it, if you go, then walk down to Sugar Reef Restaurant and get you sunbeds etc there, the sea is calmer at that end, although there are still some waves. Me and hubby ate at Sugar Reef Restaurant, it cost us $26 for local fish burger with fries and coleslaw, and a club sandwich, fries and coleslaw, and 2 corona's, which we thought was pretty good.

This beach is a must as far as i'm concerned. You may have to ask quite a few taxis to take you there before you actually find one that will. They all want the bigger jobs, like tours etc. Accra is only about 15mins away, so not as much money as a tour. Don't be put off by this though. It's a lovely beach....
