Kim,
You can walk into town and get a cab and head out to Turtle Beach. Its a nice scenic drive, about 45 minutes to get there, but a nice beach with a restaurant/bar and cute little monkeys that you can feed with peanuts they sell there. The ride is on the expensive side, but usually the driver will try to get others to go and that brings the price down and you can pre-arrange for him to come back and pick you up.

This was a few years ago, and it was around $30 per person, but then less the more people in the cab....it was actually a van, so even more people went. Once at the beach, you could tell majority of the people ther were from the cruise ships.

We found St. Kitts quite charming. The town is like a miniature British town, right down to the roundabout and red phone booths! The people were very sweet, not at all pushy and the shops were beautiful. We didn't go to the beach, but our tablemates told us they spent a great day at one of the beautiful beaches. It's been four years since I've been there and I imagine they have built it up (commercialized ) since then, but it really was one of my favorite spots on that particular cruise for it's untouched feel.

Hope you have a great time!

Hi, We were in St Kitts a few weeks ago, here's some info for you: Taxis available, and tours, and water taxi. We went to Friars Bay, 10 mins away, got water taxi for $12 pp return. we were the only 4 on the boat going to this beach, its one i read reviews on on a forum. i'm glad i did as the other beach was packed, where as this one had 20 people max on it! $10 for 2 sunbeds. 1 bar/food hut, good food freshly cooked for you - chicken, rice and salad, or ribs rice and salad, we had one of each, 1 rum punch and one carib lager and 2 bottles of water to take back to our sunbeds for $31.
Quiet beach, no water sports. Sea was nice and calm and reasonably shallow. Would recommend this beach especially if you want to chill out. The sand is sooooo hot here!
