Grand Cayman/Georgetown with a Baby

Will be cruising to Georgetown in March and will have a 13 month in tow. We are looking for something safe for him...prob beach? Would strongly prefer use of facilities so can keep him cool, We would like shade, changing facilities, place with airconditioning to cool off would be good. Def would like a pool. All- Inclusive hotel would be good but could be something else. Big sister who is 6 years old will be joining us too.

Havent been to the beaches there in awhile, but 7 mile was always nice. Not sure about an inclusive hotel either. However, for our 6 mos old I got a little pop up tent at Babies R Us last year. It ran around $40, and is so easy to use. You just pull it out of its little bag, pull the stings and its up. Push down on the top and it closes. The carry bag easily fit into a suitcase which was a big plus. Its vented on the sides, and has a zippered mesh door. It also acts as sunscreen. We used it in Aruba and it worked great.

Also if youre going to go shopping, the stores are pretty small and can be crowded when other ships are in port. A stroller might be a problem. If you have a sling or carrier you may want to use that in town.

The beach at Rum Point has extensive shade options, though only the gift shop has air conditioning. With the regular breezes, the shade and cooling off in the water usually provide all the relief from the heat you might want.

But keep in mind, Rum Point is not on the usual cruise ship tourist track. You'll probably need to rent a car and make the drive yourself as its far enough from the port to make a taxi ride extremely expensive.

Otherwise, several locations on Seven Mile Beach have watersports locations which also rent cabanas to provide shade.
