Default Belize...which Caye to visit

OK there are just too many cayes in Belize and I cant figure them out...I want to visit a caye with beach, snorkeling, refreshments for sale, and maybe some semblance of a little town. Any ideas?
Thanks. Karyn

Caulker Cay is a great place for snorkeling and diving plus they have many places to eat or swim.

The ship will probably have excursions or you can catch the water taxi, near the pier. It will run about $20.

There are no real sandy beaches but the snorkeling is pretty good.

Take care,
Mike

I have been reading about the Cayes and it sounds like Caulker Caye is a bit bigger so might have a beverage stand....bar...and womething to eat. Not sure if there are any shops. We are beginner snorkelers. A little concerned about this water taxi thing. Sounds confusing. Ship arrives at 9ish...so 90 minutes between taxis..and 45 minute boat ride...then make sure you allow for the 45 minute ride back to Belize and the 90 minutes between taxis again...and the 30 minutes from Belize back to the Valor. WOW...that is alot to think about. Carnival only offers excursion to snorkel...not the town. I wonder about private boat if there were enough to chip in on it.

Karyn:

Try Star Tours. They are right on Caye Caulker. If you book a snorkel trip with them you might be able to work something out re transporation.

We did the snorkel excusion to Goff's Caye. Its small, about the size of a football field. There is no town, just a few people there selling things. We were there for about 2.5 hours.

And???...what did you think of it?
I was reading Carnivals excursions...they say'beach break' but do not mention which Caye they go to. Some of them are a bit nicer that others. I was lookin at Caye Caulker and there seems to be no where to snorkel as there is so much sea grass that if you get to the caye by sea or by plane...then you still have to get a boat to take you out. That is why I was wondering about Goffs...but there is no excursion there...Hmmm...
