Default How often does weather effect Grand Caymen tendering

We are sailing early April and a stop is Grand Caymen. I have read about tendering being sometimes cancelled due to weather.

Can anyone tell me when this weather and cancallations are more likely to occur?

Just wondering if it is a possibility in April. If anyone did go in early April--how was weather in general?

The weather is usually fine around Grand Caymen. It's the sea conditions that can prevent passenger tendering in Caymen. All ships have to tender there, as the port isn't deep enough to dock.

We've been lucky and made it in each time we've visited, but it is kind of hit and miss.

Have made on attempt to date to hit Grand Caymen... with another attempt coming in 30 days. Hope to make it this time!! The first time we were unable to because of rough seas... but it was during hurricane season and a hurricane was in the gulf of mexico and affecting the seas... Crossing my fingers for March though!!!

I don't think you can get an actual percentage of cruises that miss Grand Cayman but it is one port that must be tendered and if the weather is too rough it will be missed.

I have been there four times and have never missed it. The times have been; February, March, May and September.

I have spoken to one person who has missed it two of the three times they have been scheduled to call there. It is the luck of the draw. I would not schedule anything that cannot be canceled and definitely do not schedule anything such as a wedding or a business meeting.

Take care,

I had luck in mid-March 2004. It was the first day, after 1 whole week of skipping, we could tender to the pier.

March, May and April are good months. Although the weather is good, the waters can be a bit choppy. It's like russian roulette, you win often, but may loose a time.

I was in Grand Cayman last March and we were told it was the best day in a week--water like glass. Another passenger on our cruise told us it was the first time in four tries in a 6 month period that she was able to tender. It really is all about the weather.
