Default Touring on own - St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua?

Would like to do 2-4 hour shore excursions on our own (no beach). Princess offers: Best of Antigua; Under Two Flags (St. Martin); and Best of St. Thomas Island Tour. How easy would it be do these type of tours w/local cab driver?

thank you.

I caught a cab over to Coral world on St. Thomas from the pier. Our cab driver was very accomodating. He asked if we wanted to go any place specific and we settled on a price. I don't see any reason why you couldn't do the same thing. You will need to tell him exactly where you want to go and how much time you plan to be with him.

St. Thomas and St. Maarten are easily to do by cab. My experience with Antigua is that you better can book a tour by the ship. Not that there is more crime, but it's harder to grab a taxi.

St. Thomas - you can just grab a cab at the pier, hire the driver for a few hours to just tour the island. A short walk from the pier is the Paradise Point tramway-its about a 7 minute ride in the tram up to a beautiful overlook. There are lots of things to do and see at the summit-- shops, restaurants, botanical garden - go to their web site, same as their name. If you just want to shop you can do that at either Havensight Mall at the pier or grab a cab into downtown Charlotte-Amalie.
St. Maarten -grab the water ferry(Dutch Side) into downtown, wander around, do some shopping, stop at the Guavaberry Emporium for a sample of the local liquer. Grab a cab at the pier and head over to the French side - do some shopping and sightseeing.

Lisa K -
thanks for the input. Have done tram in St. T, so will do more island tour stuff. Re: St. M - would like to do both sides of island - you mentioned access to each side from pier - how about from town to town?

On just about any island taxis will be at the pier and happy to give you a private tour. Just be sure there is no language problem.
