Default Beaches in Aruba

We will be stopping for a day in Aruba in mid February and would like to spend it on a beach along with a little shopping. We have been told that Palm Beach would be a good choice. Can we rent a cab at the dock and how far away is it? Also are there changing facilities and some place to rent a beach chair and maybe buy lunch? Would there be some place to get a cab when we want to return to the ship? Is it safe fo us to go alone? If anyone has done this we would appreciate some advice.

We have sailed into Aruba many times. You can take the city bus [they are safe]to palm beach,it will cost you $2 round trip.We always go down to the Holiday inn.Just when you get on the bus tell the driver where you want to go.You will not be the only ones on the bus from the ship.If you want you can rent chairs and use their facilities and you can get the bus right outside their driveway.the right is about half hour so give yourself enough time to get back.
There is like a little market right off the docks on the street.

I've also used their public transportation to get to the beach, I think we went to Baby beach. The bus terminal is right around the corner from the pier, very easy.

Aruba isn't a big island. It's actually quite small. I was there with my BF & his parents for 2 weeks since they have a Presidential timeshare at Casa Del Mar (talking about luxury!!).

Anyway, from the cruise pier, its only a few miles straight down. Your best bet is suggested above, that's the area where the major hotels are & the water is calm to the point that it looks like ice. You can also eat at these hotels as well & the prices for lunch are fairly reasonable.

Baby beach is good, but its a good distance away. At least a 35 minute ride by car & you are in the middle of nowhere if something happens. There's no phones, etc. It's the tip of the island.
