Calica- transportation options- how close to 307?

Hi- I am going to be stopping at Calica next month, and we've thought about just going to Tulum.

We found information about Colectivos that run up and down HWY 307, between Playa Del Carmen & Tulum. They cost like $2 USD pp.

I wondered how close the port is to 307.

Does anyone know if it would be practical to walk to the Highway and catch one of the colectivos on its way to Tulum?

It is possible, but it is a long, DIRTY, walk. You would be covered in dust by the time you got half way.
There are many cabs at port and they could take you to 307, or all the way to Tulum.

That's a bummer.

There's just two of us. All we really want to do in Calica is visit Tulum, and walk around in PDC, do some shopping, and maybe eat some real Mexican food.

Maybe we'd be better off to take a cab to whatever we want to do first, then take the Colectivo to the other, and a cab back to the ship.

Any suggestions on which order would be best?

We're supposed to be there from 7AM to 5PM.

We took the tour of Talum and enjoyed it very much. The trip is very long so you may want to make sure you're paying a flat rate and have a way back.

When you go there, make sure to go behind the main pyramid and look at the beach from the clift. It was one of the most beutiful views of our entire cruise. My wife still has an 8x10 blowup of a snapshot we took there in here office. She looks at it every time she starts to feel stressed.

Our trip was in June so it was very hot and muggy. A cooler time of year would make the tour that much more enjoyable.
