Default Another 7 mile beach question, HELP!

I've been reading only bad reviews about using the ship's excursion to the beach. Has anyone had a positive experience. We want to just relax on the beach, not be jammed in like sardines. Is there somewhere we can direct the taxi driver to take us. We would like to rent chairs and to be able to get a taxi ride back to the ship easily. A hotel would be fine, but which one? Thanks for any help. Biebz

I would think any taxi driver would know what hotel accepts cruise passengers and be able to take you there. You can also arrange for the same driver to come back and pick you up if you wish. There is lots to do on 7 mile beach, and more importantly, you can JUST relax...have fun!

The last time we were there was 2 years ago and things had changed a lot. Cab drivers packed people in and took us where they got something back from the hotel. It turned out not to matter, as it seemed the entire beach was packed, plus lots of construction going on. Not trying to discourage anyone here, but I feel Grand Cayman is one those ports that has been overwhelmed by the number of cruise ships and the number of passengers. If we go again, we'll do the sting ray bit again. That was awesome!

Hello, we were there in December - did the turtle farm and beach trip. The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all. We saw a couple getting married and they didn't mind us watching. We didn't stay for very long (just long enough to take some photos) but if we had wanted the tour guide would have left us there and let us make our own way back to the ship.

Go to Sea Grapes Beach. Much nicer, quiet.
Padded chairs, shade, food.
Look it up on the internet.

The hotels are located on 7 mile so it gets the most advertising.
But the locals and those who travel there on land vacations will tell you that Sea Grapes is the place to be.

BTW.... if you are interested in shore snorkeling, try Eden's Rock.
Just down from where the tender boats are.
It is truly amazing all the sea life that is there.

Enjoy your trip!!
