Default Bahama excursions

We will be in Grand Turks, Half Moon Cay and Nassau. We don't do the beach scene much (we can do that at home) so if we don't want to laze around on the beach what would be a really good excursion for these ports. There are so many, and not really a lot of time to book all I want to do, so I need to narrow it down to the best. I want to see the beaches and get pictures, but not spend my day there. I know about Atlantis and that is a must. Can anyone help with this. We sail in November so would like to start planning these soon. Thanks.

Hi Floridanamaw,
I was in Nassau 3 weeks ago and my family and I went to the Atlantis resort. If you just want to walk around and take some photos, take a taxi from the dock to atlantis. Its $4 per person. We wanted to see the aquarium (which was awesome) and just look at the hotel. I think you can take a tour to Atlantis and this way you can use their beach, but if you just want to look around, get a taxi. Also, if you are looking for a place to eat, there is a Senor Frogs near the dock. They have good food! Hope this helps!

I forgot about Senor Frogs, I have orders from my daughter to go there and get her a shirt. Sounds like most people just take to taxi to Atlantis. How long do you need to do the Atlantis and aquarium tour? Would there be time for something like the glass bottom boat? Thanks for the help.

to truly enjoy all the DIG at Atlantis has to offer i would plan at least an hour to wander thru the aquarium. Of course you could alway get distracted by the gorgeous casino that you have to walk thru to get to the DIG. You can get a really good sandwich at the Sports Bar in the casino
Half Moon Cay is the private island and is basically an all-day beach party, you can come and go as you please.

Floridanamaw,

We will be in Grand Turks, Half Moon Cay and Nassau. We don't do the beach scene much (we can do that at home) so if we don't want to laze around on the beach what would be a really good excursion for these ports.

Half Moon Cay is a private island owned by Holland America Lines, and most of the activities there are beach-related. The ship's staff will go ashore, set up the bar, organize activities such as volleyball, etc., and prepare a fantastic barbecue lunch. I can't speak specifically to Half Moon Cay, but most of the cruise lines' private islands have wave runners, banana boat rides, some well marked trails for walking, and a grove somewhere with plenty of hammocks. There may also be some natives selling various crafts and there probably is a souvenir shop.

Hope this helps.

Norm.

Thanks for the info. There seems to be so much to do but not in port long enough to do it all. I don't want to miss anything. Thanks for helping.
