Default rafting on the martha brae river

Has anyone did this tour in Jamaica. It is the one you board a 30 foot bamboo raft built for two and a guide slowly takes you down the river. It looks interesting and something easy to do for us older folkes.

My husband andI took the Martha Brae raft trip two years ago (both in mid-fifties) and it was very relaxing and beautiful. Down side: many Jamacians on the shore peddling trickets and beverages spoiling the scenery. My husband at one time even took the pole and operated the raft himself. The guide generally will be whittling a vase and will offer it to you for sale. You will be also expected to tip the guide at the end of the trip. Knowing all that, would we do it again? yes!

that is exactly the tour, you will love it. The scenery is gorgeous, its a very relaxing tour, gives you an insight into the "real" Jamaica. We saw women doing laundry and kids bathing in the river.

I took my dad (age 73 at the time) on this trip and it was very relaxing. We had to help him on and off the raft, which he did pretty good on. Some parts of the water were shallow and we hit a few rocks, but all in all it was a very relaxing trip. As stated in the previous post, the guide will be carving some sort of vase or something which he will ask you to buy - and of course we did for 30.00. Dad and I laughed about it as he said it looked like a 5.00 thing, but hey..........I couldn't carve like that! YOu will enjoy the trip!
