Ocho Rios with Family

Ocho Rios is one of our stops on a cruise this February. Any suggestions for a fun, SAFE day with DH and 4 children - ages 7, 11, 12 and 15? Don't really want to spend a fortune - about $50/person or so.

Cruising with kids those ages, they may enjoy climbing the falls. You can check into a ship excursion or grab a cab and go. I just wouldn't be wondering around on your own there, just to be on the safe side.

The shore excursion called "Prospect Plantation and Dunn's River Falls" would be an excellent choice, and be sure to wear swimsuits under your clothing and to bring a pair of SurfWalkers (R) or similar water shoes with heavy rubber soles and a beach towel provided by the ship for each member of your party to climb the falls. This tour offers a great balance of educational content and pure fun! The driver will secure your clothes and belongings in the minivan while you do the climb. There's also a shopping stop where you can buy Jamaica's famous Blue Mountain Coffee to bring home as a souvenir.

Ocho Rios was our favorite port! All because of Trevor Hudlin! He met us at the port and took us wherever we wanted to go. There was only the two of us, so he told us we could invite friends. We invited a couple from our table. We climbed the Falls first (we were literally the first ones!). We also went through the rainforest, on a quick tour of Ocho Rios and stories, horseback riding in the ocean, lunch at a jerk eatery and shopping. He got us back to the dock in a timely manner. You might want to do the falls and tubing. He just dropped us off whereever we wanted. He is funny and kind.
