Default Marigot Shopping and Eating

I will be in Marigot on a cruise the first week in April. I have never been to the French side of St. Martin and was wondering what would be a good time to spend there. There are 3 different tours giving you 30 min; 1 hour or 2 hours to shop and eat in town. Any advice which one is best. Are there any good eating places in the downtown area? Is there any reason to be concerned about eating the food while visiting Marigot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda

Linda,

If you don't want to pay a lot of money for the excursion, you can ride a city bus to Marigold. My husband and I did that. I think it cost us $3 each. We stayed in Marigold several hours and then caught a city bus back to Philipsburg. (You can also take a taxi for $15 if you don't want to ride a city bus/van.) There is a large market down near the water in Marigot. There are many outdoor restaurants, also. We thought Marigot was beautiful. I'd go back there in a minute!!

Have fun on your cruise!!
