Calica - Specific Taxi Line More Trust Worthy?

We are going to take a cab from the Calica port to Playa Del Carmen. I have read on other threads that there are certain taxi's that are safe/trustworthy for tourist to use. Is this true at the Calica port? If so what do we look for? Thanks, Carla

I have been trying to find taxi info as well, from other posts I have found, see below, I guess they have a cab stand for the official cabs...

Just came back from a Cruise in Dec. 2006. We docked in Calica and took a cab to Playa. You wait in line for a cab and it is about $10 to Playa and $10 back. Hang on to your hat, the drivers just get to where they are going as fast as they can.

Hi, in Calica port (Playa del Carmen), there are no different taxi lines. There is only one Union of taxi drivers and there are individual taxis and "colectivos" which are collective taxis picking people up on fix routes. The port is offering the individual taxis and a coordinator can fix the price for you before you drive away (always recomendable in MExico). The colective taxis are much less expensive and can be found on the main road outside the terminal....but for comfort and speed, the individual ones at the port are recommendable (they also take all numbers of the taxis in the terminal for security reasons...and this part of MExico is quite safe.
