Hello, we will be on the Grandeur of the Seas (RCI) on June 15th...and can't wait to get to St. Thomas and St. John's. Can anyone tell me if it's easy to get a taxi from RCI's pier to Magen's bay? Are they readily available, safe, and how much should we expect to pay? How long of a taxi ride is it? We'd also like to get to St. John's by ferry and just want to make the most use of our time in this port. Any hints, tips, etc., on getting around would be most appreciated.
Hi Pam,
It would be almost impossible to do both beach in the same day. You can easily get a cab from the pier to Meagans Bay in St. Thomas, about a 20 to 30 minute ride depending on traffic.
Getting over to St. JOhns take a bit more time and planning. It would involve a taxi tide to the ferry, then the ferry ride and once at St. John's another taxi ride to the beach. The ferry's run every hour, same with the return. That could take up most of the day and may-be some time to shop by the pier in St. Thomas.
I honestly don't think you'd have the time to go to both St. John and Meagans bay. If I had to choose, I'd go to St. John, its absolutely beautiful!
Pam, i totally agree with Donna. Yes Megan's Bay is rated as one of the top ten beaches in the Caribbean and it is gorgeous, but it can get very crowded and its a bit of a tourist trap, also there is no snorkeling at Meagan's Bay Beach. The beaches over on St. John are absoutley spectacular with really good snorkeling. Go to www.vinow.com for some great information
I would also vote for St. John's and Trunk Bay. Agreat day at the beach !
