Default Resorts in St. Maarten on Orient Beach

Are there resorts on Orient Beach that allow cruise ship passengers to use the facilities, like the pool, bars, beach etc..

We have reserved an excursion to go to Little Bay Divi resort on the Dutch side, but it is very expensive (5 of us) and I am thinking about just taking a taxi over to Orient Beach, is there a large number of resorts?

Thanks for any info! We cruise on the Glory, 5/12/07!

Hi Carrie,
Orient beach is just a huge beach with lots of activities. Plenty of lounge chairs to rent, restaurants/bars, etc. I never noticed any resorts or pools, so you'd just have to enjoy the beach. You can parasail and jet ski and just plain relax.

Its also easy to get a cab there and back. The more people in the cab the less it is per person, should be around $20-25 one way for the cab, so if there are 4 people in the cab, $5 each one way. Not a bad deal.

Yes there are! We took a taxi from the taxi stand near the dock. Our driver was great - her name was Mary Nicholas - ask for her! She took us to a place on ORient Beach where we rented chairs and an umbrella. She stayed the whole time we were there. Drinks and food were available. We stayed there a few hours. Area to change and shower off. Then we were off to Marigot where she dropped us off. After shopping at "la pharmacie" in Marigot for some great deals on Phyto hair care items, we took another taxi back to the Dutch side where we shopped some more. Then I believe we took another cab back to the ship. All very reasonably priced, compared to a ship tour, and we had more flexibility.
Hope this helps!
