Default Rum Point Beach Info

I am sure this question has been asked before but I don't have time to look back through all the threads...so my apology up front!

If you aren't doing a tour, how can you get to Rum Point Beach? Can you take a taxi? If so, what is the cost?

I tried to book a private tour and told they were already booked for the day of my arrival....and that is six months out...help!

Thank you!

a taxi to rum point would cost a lot, you might look into renting a car instead.

Would that really be any cheaper. Plus you have the hassle of returning the car to the airport getting back to the ship, unless you know a short cut or discounted way of doing it?

We looked into doing this too but the sad thing is there is not a simple way to get out there unless you book it with an excursion and go by boat.

There use to be a ferry that would take you over from near 7 mile beach for just a few dollars. But I guess it was destroyed by the storms a while ago. Sorry, that probably isn't what you wanted to hear. Carla

Yes I knew about the ferry no longer running.

The sad this is the ship doesn't offer any excursion on my sailing to Rum Point but on other sailings it does...go figure.

I seem to remember a couple independent operations running sail boats there for a day excursion. It was our first cruise so I was a little leary of anything that took us that far away from the ship.

Might want to get on Grand Caymans website and go through their guide book/coupon book thing. Might be a couple companies listed in there to call

Default Rum Point, Grand Cayman

There is no doubt that renting a car is FAR cheaper than a taxi and is the preferred way to get to Rum Point.

The buses do not go that far. The ferry is no longer running (though it wasn't destroyed). And taxis would cost around US$150 for a round trip.

Also try grandcaymanexcursions.com. Appear to be a reputable company. Site is very comprehensiove. I think they r under another domain name as well: island excursions.com They did have A Rum Point excursion.
