Default St Maarten Beach suggestion

We are on a Princess Cruise with a limited itinerary( ST maarten, St Thomas, Princess cays). Our first Princess cruise (if that matters) so i am not sure how their excursions compare to RCCL.

We have been to Orient Beach...just ok though i admnit it was a cloudy /showery day so not the best to judge it by.

We have done the Rhino Riders from here also which stopped at a private beach. ALOT of fun BTW

We would love to just take a cab to a beach or if anyone has an excursion that includes a beach stop....I'd love to hear about it!

ALso has anyone done the 4X4 Jeeps in St Maarten? 8) 8) We have done them in aruba where they go offroad and it was great. This St Maarten one seems to just be a ride along normal roads etc

Thanks!

I would have to recommend giving Orient another try, but if you don't want to consider that, then I would recommend Dawn Beach. Easy to get to by taxi and a wonderful spot. Great food and services at Ms. B's, under the big white tent.

you might want to consider the Golden Eagle Catamaran sail as a ships excursion, its a beautiful sail on a great boat you sail over to Tintamar which is a beach preserve where you can swim off the boat, snorkel, or relax on the beach.

If you just want beach, take the ferry across to town and use the beach there,it is a clean beach and you have bar service on the beach if you go to the left of the ferry dock.It will cost you $7 for the ferry.

We've done both Orient Beach and Dawn beach in St. Martin and I must say I really liked Dawn Beach better, not as crowded and the drinks were half the price of those on Orient Beach. Dawn is on Dutch side, so the swimsuits remained mostly on (some topless) unlike Orient where the only people who go naked are the ones you really wish wouldn't .

Dawn is also closer so you can do some shopping back in town too.

I spent about a week one day at Orient Beach. UGH! As noted above, the ones going au naturel are the ones who should leave their clothes on. Not sure why graying, balding, pot-bellied, middle-aged men think they are the ones who need to treat our eyes. Personally, I would prefer even the young and beautiful remain covered, if only scantily Orient is also too big and too many people for our taste. Take the island beach.

We are traveling with a group of 20 and want to find a nice family oriented beach(10 kids) with a possibility for transportation for this many. Any options or should we split up in cabs? By reading everything, it looks like Dawn Beach has good characteristics. What about the snorkeling there. Any suggestions?
