Default Truck Bay or Megan's Bay

Which would you do? Shore Excursion to Trunk Bay or Do it yourself Megan's Bay? We only have from 7a - 3p.

I think with that time frame, I'd do Meagans Bay in St. Thomas, unless there is a ship excursion to Trunk Bay.

There is an excursion to Trunk Bay, but it looks like you only have one hour to swim or snorkel. Is Trunk Bay that much nicer than Megan's Bay?

IMHO, YES, its tons nicer, like a picture postcard. St. Johns is absolutely beautiful. Meagans bay is a nice beach, no snorkeling, nothing to see underwater there, but it's much easier and quicker to get there and back than going all the way over to St. JOhns.

St Johns all the way.....me and my DH got married on the beach on Hawksnest Beach in St. Johns. We've also been to Trunk Bay and Megans Bay and Trunk Bay WINS hands down....St. Johns is absoulty beautiful and if you have the chance to take an excursion through the cruise-line I would pick Trunk Bay over Megans Bay. Happy Cruising!!!

Donna
Cruise tours only offer 4 hours in St. Johns and doesn't it take an hour over and an hour back from ship to Cruz Bay ??? Also is there enough at Cruz Bay to see and enjoy....we were thinking of doing it on our own since we have 8am to 6pm in St. Thomas....that way we could spend some time at Trunk Bay as well.

Ho Joie,
Yes, you certainly have enough time to go to St. Johns on your own. The actual ferry ride is only about 20 minutes, but there is a taxi to the ferry and then another taxi once you are there, so possible total time traveling would be at least an hour. The ferry's run on a schedule, just once an hour, so be sure to check that and go from there.

If you are concerned about having the time to get to St John's, which is spectacular, I recommend Coki Beach on St. THomas. It is an easy taxi ride from the ship and the snorkeling is WONDERFUL! LOTS of fish and a beautiful beach, no entry fee. Very easy to do on your own

It depends on what you want to do, snorkel, swim or just hang out at a beach. Both Coki Beach and Trunk Bay have good snorkeling although the travel time to get to and from Trunk Bay really cuts into the quality time to enjoy the water and beach if you have a mid-afternoon departure. Megans Bay is clean, beautiful and a short taxi ride from the dock and is great for sunning and swimming but not for snorkeling. You can rent lounge chairs ($5) and there are changing facilities, restrooms, and restaurant.

Hi Joie,
Yes, I think you have plenty of time to get over to St. Johns. There really isn't much at the ferry pier, but the beaches are beautiful and worth the trip.
