Default Ocho Rios

I booked the Best of Ocho Rios on RCCL for 9/12/07.

It says that it makes a stop at Eight Rivers Casino. Does anyone know anything about this casino? Has anyone ever been there?

What did you think of this shore excursion?

Thanks
Diane

You will have plenty of opportunity to make donations at the casino aboard ship, so you might want to consider doing something other than a casino when you go ashore.

There's a fabulous shore excursion in Ocho Rios called "Prospect Plantation and Dunn's River Falls" that visits two magnificent attractions.

>> Prospect Plantation is a classic Jamaican plantation that is still fully operational. The plantation occupies a whole mountain that has many climate zones (at 6,300 feet, Jamaica's Blue Ridge is taller than New Hampshire's Mount Washington) where the plantation grows an incredibly diverse variety of crops. You'll ride around the plantation in a jitney drawn by a farm tractor, with stops at various stations for demonstrations staged by the plantaton staff. The coconut harvesting demonstration is particularly impressive.

>> Dunn's River Falls is a stairstep waterfall that visitors climb in human chains with qualified guides in the lead. The waterfall is well shaded by trees on both sides and the mountain stream is very refreshing. Be sure to bring a pair of Surfwalkers (R) or similar watershoes and wear your swimsuit under your clothes so you can do the ascent. Your clothes and valuables will be safe in your tour vehicle during the climb, which is pretty easy. (There are several exit points along the way for climbers who get into trouble.)

This shore excursion also includes a stop for shopping at a strip mall, where you can buy some Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and other souvenirs.

Norm.

Default watch your wallet in ocho rios, jamica

i enjoyed the dunns river fall A LOT! fantastic excursion.

but if you are to do that, you might want to buy a non-slip shoes before you go on cruise. they charge a lot more if you are gonna buy there and even renting it. they also want to charge you for a lock-box if you bring much personal belongings. many shops owners along the path to the dunn's river falls are absolutely AWEFUL! watch your wallet!!

i am glad i went to DUNN's RIVER FALLS, but i will NOT go back to ocho rios jamica.

I completely agree about not needing to go back to ocho rios - we did the falls which was really fun, but then I couldn't wait to get back to the ship

i agree with Norm on this one. Jamaica is such a gorgeous, lush, green tropical island it almost seems a waste to spend it indoors at a casino imo

Eight Rivers Casino is just a fraction of the tour.

Rum factory, Dunn's River Falls, etc. There are about 8 different things.

Cost $58.00 per person.
