Which Ports have Mayan Ruins?

We visited the Tulum ruins from the Calica port. Which other ports have Mayan ruins? Thanks, Carla

Cozumel, Progreso, and Belize. We have been to Mayan ruins at all of these ports. In Cozumel we visited Tulum, in Progreso we saw the Mayan ruins at Uxmal, and in Belize we saw the Altun Ha ruins. There are also excursions to Chichen Itza from both Cozumel and Progreso. I believe Progreso offers excursions to other closer ruins also. Be sure to check the excursions listed for your cruise. I really want to go to Chichen Itza but it is not listed as an excurtion for the legend on 3/9/08.

Is Altun Ha impressive? Were you allowed to go into the ruins unlike Tulum? Thanks, Carla

Should have offered tip earlier. Tulum, like many ruins, has buildings you cannot get to. Best to bring a pair of binoculars or a 35mm camera with a telephoto lens. Also, bring some good soled shoes, (I always take shorty hiking boots for the stones and gravel), an umbrella for shade and plenty of water.

BTW, from Cozumel, by ferry to Playa I have picked up a tour of Coba.
This site for the most part is unexcavated, but there is a pyramid to climb and ruins enough to see.

We went to Chichen Itza from Progreso. It is listed as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. It is amazing. The only drawback is that it is a 2 hour + drive to the ruins, but is well worth it.

Progresso= Chichen Itza, Uxmal
Cozumel=San Gervasio
Playa Del Carman= Tulum
Belize=Altun Ha, Xunantunich
Costa Maya= Chaccoben, Kohunlich
That's just one one I have heard of ...

I have visited San Gervasio, Uxmal, Tulum, Xunantunich, and Kohunlich. All were worth seeing, but I guess I'll rank them as follows
1) Uxmal= considered by many to be the most lovely Mayan ruins due to the architectural uniqueness
2) Kohunlich= the temple of the mask very well preserved
3) Xunantunich= one can climb this one spectacular pyramid
4) Tulum= interesting for sure, but mostly roped off. Cenote house only structure I could enter.
5) San Gervasio= small, but well worth a look-see.
