Default Where do the ships dock in St. Maarten?

While in St. Maarten, we are planning a ship's shore excursion to Marigot and the Village Plantation, but would like to stop in Phillipsburg and get our own transportation back to the ship. Does anyone know if this is possible? Would appreciate advice. Thanks so much.
Marti

Default st.maarten

marti42, almost all of the shore excursions on the island give you the option of being dropped off downtown philipsburg or back to the ship.
from the ship there is a water taxi that I think costs $5 per person for and all day ticket, or I believe it costs $3 or $4 pp in a land taxi each way.
st.maarten is a great island for shopping so enjoy.have a great cruise.

There is also that chance that you'll have to tender there, we did on the last cruise. If thats the case, the tender will drop you right in town, no need to walk, or use either the water taxi or regular taxi.

Marti- make sure that your ships excursion offers the option of shopping downtown, most of them do. What we usually do is take the excursion, go back to the ship, drop-off all our stuff/gear, grab a bite to eat, then walk over to the water taxi, buy the all-day pass for like $5 then head into town to do our shopping.

Default St. Maarten - Thanks a Lot!

Thanks so much for the info. We're about to pay our "final payment" which means the cruise is a little over 2 months away. I keep that in mind everytime I give my TA my credit card number.... Makes me feel so much better!

if you haven't been there, you will love St Maarten. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and we are going back in January on the Miracle.

To date, St. Maarten is my favorite Caribbean island, beautiful island, decent shopping, friendly natives that don't bug you, what more can you ask for? There are also some good excursions there, including the America's Cup Regatta, great fun.

Enjoy!
