Default Calica Excursions - REALLY need some help!

Ok, so... we've read alot on here, and the dolphin swim is out. But, now that leaves us not having a clue on what to do in Calica. We're on the Inspiration in Feb, going to Grand Caymen and Calica. But, all the excursions look the same, and not really anything screams "PICK ME"
Can ANYONE help???
Thanks!!!!!!!!

Calica has plenty to with without the Dolphin Swim. There's underground rafting, lots of spots for lounging and snorkeling. I'd love to go back there again.

Not sure what the deal is with the dolphin swim but here's my two cents worth... you can take a cab to the Puerto Aventuras Omni Hotel. It is a in a very nice safe gated resort area, full of beautifl botiques. The resort itself offers a lovely huge pool. a great beach, nice bar and food and drink service while you lounge and relax. They have a dive shop on site and will rent snorkel equipment if you like. Walk out to the courtyard area and see the DOLPHINS (they offer a dolphin swim there if you are interested email the hotel and they can refer you, I'm sure) Personally we enjoyed just hanging out watching them. We really enjoyed our day there and all the Omni asks is that you have a bite to eat and something to drink while you visit. You don't need a day pass. It's been a few years since we've been there, but check out the reviews on trip advisor and see if that suits your tastes. I would love to return.

Here some recommendations: Xcaret, Xel-Ha, ATV Caverns and Snorkel tour, ATV Beach tour, Caverns and Beach (bus), Horseback riding at loma bonita, ATV Eco Challenge at the Bahia Principe Resort (great tour, not offered by cruise lines), Sian Kaan Explorer, Jet Boat Cancun, ...there is a LOT to do in Calica/Playa del Carmen, good luck

Take a taxi to Playa del Carmen. It is a beautiful place with a gorgeous beach. Walk up 5th Avenue and see all the shops and outdoor restaurants.

If you like ruins, take an excursion to Tulum. These ruins are on a cliff by the ocean, and the views are breathtaking. Wear a swimsuit under your clothes, and take a swim while you are there. You will not regret going there.

I love Playa del Carmen!!

Default Calica - What NOT to do...

OMG...Calica really is a gravel pit. Anyhow, just back from a Thanksgiving cruise on MS Fascination, and selected the "Calica Beach Break" for the family (Mrs. and 2 kids - 8 & 15) and I based on the shore excursion brochure description of "An incredible afternoon of fun in the sun at La Playa". Well, "La Playa" is really someone's back yard that just happens to be on the water. Located at the end of an unpaved, rutted goat path I sincerely do not believe anyone other than unsuspecting Carnival passengers go there. What a dump!

Did you hear of anyone else having any good luck on their excursions? We were definetly not looking to sit on a beach all day...since we'll be sitting on the deck for the days at sea! We love to be active and see anything we can. If we get to a beach, that's a plus...but, we'd love to just experience anything we can...if there's anything to experience at all, that is!
