Default where to go in Ocho Rios, Jamaica?

If you've done Dunn's River Falls, what else is fun to do in Ocho Rios? Has anyone gone on the Bob Marley trip?

Should we book trips through an independent company? Or through Carnival (our cruise line)?

THANKS!

Just to play it safe there, I'd do a ship excursion. If they offer the canopy tour from there, done that and it was great.

I booked a River Tubing adventure through our ship. I heard that the people in Ocho Rios were very demanding and kind of in your face so we didn't want to deal with that, so we booked the excursion through our ship. We really enjoyed it.

We've done the river tubing excursion in Ocho Rios twice and loved it each time. We booked through the ship.

I echo Angela and huntr-did the same thing. Jamaica is one stop where I would definitely book through the ship. If you want to do a little shopping or have a drink, Island Village right by the cruise ship pier is a nice protected environment with a beach front Margaritaville there.

in November (Carnival Liberty).

We did the Dolphin Encounter and Dunns RIver Falls package thru our ship. I 2nd the idea of touring thru your ship here, just to make sure you always have a ride and aren't left high and dry trying to figure things out.

We did our shopping right at Dolphin Cove-got t shirts, vanilla, shot glasses, the usual...and at Dunns River Falls we also shopped. I understand not many do b'c they are so pushy. I didn't find them so much pushy as just anxious. They'd say "Come see, come see," so I'd say "Show me what you have" with a smile and I got tons of info and background on what they make and how and I met some super sweet people there. Lots of knuckle-bumping and "Ya mon, it's all about da respect mon." One funny guy was asking where we were from, when I told him he said "Where you from dey drink and drive, here, we smoke and fly..." and that cracked us up... when it got right down to it I'd tell them how much I had to spend and they showed me everything in that price range. If something else caught my eye then I'd haggle for it and always won. I think b'c I didn't shy away or avoid their eyes and spoke back and answered and asked questions they maybe didn't feel like they had to push so hard? I would never have been brave enough to walk the streets anywhere, but felt very safe in that shopping area, as I said this was at the top of the falls. We spent so much at the markets and had such a ball talking to all the people that our guide arranged for us the get the DVD of our climb for FREE!!

Enjoy your stay in OR. Don't be afraid, but do be careful, and respectful

Again-Island Village right by the cruise ship pier in Ocho Rios has all the shopping you can handle in a controlled environment (police presence at the entrance) plus bars, restaurants, Margaritaville, beach, etc

What about trying the River tubing in Ocho Rios. We did it in Dominica and had loads of fun! I know you can do it in Ocho Rios too. Friends of ours did it ther and they said it was really good. Infact if we hadn't wanted to do Dunns River falls(our first time there) then we would have done the river tubing. I have posted loads of info including website links on other info site www.cruisegossip.co.uk - that might help you decide. I think its all under the sub heading - excursion reviews.
