Default Half Moon Cay

Wondering how Half Moon Cay is? Carnival doesn't seem to send many sailings to their private island whereas RCCL seems to send a lot of their sailings to one of their private islands. Is Half Moon Cay really worth it? I have a 3yr old active son who loves the beach (we live in Florida and he can't get enough of it).

Should I book a cruise with Half Moon Cay in the itinerary or is there really no difference between Half Moon Cay;s beach experience and any of the other island beaches?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of Half Moon Cay v. any other port's beaches.

Oh yeah...we may also be bringing my 65yr old father with us this go around.

Half Moon Cay is the nicest of the private islands of any cruise line!

It was used almost exclusively by Holland America until recently. Now they are starting to share it with other Carnival Corporation ships.

I might even pick a ship just because Half Moon Cay was on the itinerary!

I went there on the Triumph in September and decided it was worth going back again the next year!!!! I loved it! The beach was amazing, the weather exceptional, and everything about it is perfect. I could have stayed forever, but the ship wouldn't leave without me, so I reluctantly left...

I'll be on the Liberty in September when we go there again and am considering getting a cabana, even though I am cruisng solo I'd get a private cabana just to waste the day away!

HMC is definitely worth the trip. We have always wanted to do just a "beach day" but always found something else at a port. This was the perfect beach day. Not over crowded, free food, and the water / beach area is well kept. I wanted to take my 3 yr there but the 4 day sailings (we are doing a "try me" sailing with her ) dont go to HMC. If she does ok, we will book our next itinerary to take us back there for her. Have fun and enjoy 8)
