Default Southern Caribbean

It's less than 6 months now until we embark on the Adventure of the Seas southern Caribbean cruise. We are going on the "other" southern itinerary which stops in Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. The common southern Caribbean cruise for the Adventure is Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, and all the cruise reviews I can find review the more common itinerary, but none for the alternate itinerary. Has anyone taken this cruise with the alternate itinerary?

I'm really looking for info on Antigua and Barbados. We plan on visiting St. Johns on a boat tour while in St. Thomas, taking a cab to the French side on St. Maarten, and spending the day at a beach resort in St. Lucia that a friend has set up for us, as well as a 2 night pre-cruise stay at the Intercontinental San Juan Resort and Casino in San Juan. So if anyone can shed some light on activities in Barbados and Antigua as well as the Adventure OTS, it would be greatly appreciated.

On Antigua we took a cab to English Harbor and Shirley Heights. The view from the Heights is amazing - Our cab driver pointed out Eric Clapton's home (which he said he helped build while dong construction). English Harbor has a nice sense of history with the old piers and military barracks. There is a beautiful wooden cathedral in town that you can easily see as the ship docks. I understand the beaches are wonderful but we never made it that far.

As to Barbados, we booked with Silver Moon Catamaran for a wonderful sail (including a Bajin lunch and frozen drinks) and snorkeled with the sea turtles.

Finally, even though you already have plans.......on St Lucia we spent the day with Cosol (a private tour operator) and it was the highlight of our week. He provides local food (Cassava bread and Fried fish!) and drink (Piton Beer and Rum Punch!) and it was only $45 per person for almost 5 hours. He took us all around the island including the drive through volcano, Soufriere, the rain forest and the botanical gardens. I cannot recommend him enough.

Enjoy your cruise...We have a full year before our next one!
