Default Do we have time to do both ....St. John and shopping???

We arrive in St. Thomas at 8:00 and leave at 6:00. Do we have time to go to St. Johns, Trunk Bay and still have time to wander around downtown St. Thomas? Really want to see St. Johns this time but don't want to give up my shopping time. Don't want to snorkel, just sightsee a bit. Is it possible to do both without cutting it too close? Need my shopping fix!!

Although I have never done this, I know many who have..especially since you don't want to snorkle, you will have no problems.

Just make sure you check the ferry schedule. On the way over to St John, we took a taxi to Red Hood and the ferry to Cruz Bay. On the way back we found that a second ferry was leaving Cruz earlier and going directly back to Charlotte Amile. Even though the second ferry trip was about 15 minutes longer, it saved the extra taxi fare and got us back to town earlier.

Thanks DLM, how long does it take to get from the ship to Red Hook and then to Cruz bay? Also how long from Cruz Bay to Charlotte Armie?

if you dock at Havensight plan a good half hour once you are on the road to get to Red Hook Harbor, the ferry leaves every hour on the hour so plan some extra wiggle room there for traffic issues. The ferry from Red Hook Harbor to Cruz Bay takes about 40 minutes. Once you dock at Cruz Bay walk to the end of the causeway and grab one of the open-air jitney cabs to the beach, this takes about 30 minutes depending upon if you stop to take in some of the breathtaking sites along the way for a photo opp.

Yes you can do it but be watchful of the time. You may not want to leave Trunk Bay however.

Personally, I didn't like shopping in St Thomas as much as St Maarten... I wish we would have known... we bought some nice tshirts in St Maarten 3 for $10 but didn 't find deals like that in St thomas... maybe we went to the wrong shops... My husband found a pair of Keen sandals in St Maarten for $65 that he paid $130 for the week before at home.

In St Thomas, there is a Kmart close to the ship that had good prices for wine and spirits...

I'd start out early in the AM, get to St. Johns and back and then just shop at Havensight, they do have lots of shops, should fix your shopping fix.

yes you do if you're going to either just beach it or just shop it on St. John. Otherwise, you probably won't have time to shop just outside the ship.
