Turtle beach is nice, although about a 45 minute ride from town.
Slightly off topic, but have any of you ever played this computer game? I have Turtle Bay 2, and really enjoy the animated, tropical island art in it!
Another game I love, and recommend to anyone who likes tropical screensavers, is Tropix. As you win "sand dollars" by playing various games of your choice, such as bowling, sandoku, parasailing, and the shell game, you can buy and decorate islands. When you close the game, you can enable the Tropix screensaver, which then shows your islands and the decore you left on it. Watch out, though, the crab and the monkey who inhabit these islands may move things around, and consume the food and drink you provide!
One of our favorite excursions is the America's Cup Regatta in St. Maarten. Two 12 meter racing yachts that actually competed in the race some years back are well maintained and everyone has something to do (winches, grinders, sail ropes, etc....) You race against each other and it is exhilarating. You might be able to do a beach as well as the excursion is only about 3 hours. Just my two cents.
