Default Belize: Cave-tubing.NET vs. Cave_tubing.COM

Have seen reviews for both. Cave-tubing.COM seems much cheaper with an ATV option. Anybody have any opinions?

Default Cave-Tubing.net or cave_tubing.com?

.COM are $75 for cave tubing and ATV and .NET are $95 for cave tubing and Zipline. Both are $45 for cave tubing only. The zipline and caves are next to each other - time saving, enjoying more of both. ATV and cave tubing are about 5 miles apart, meaning "need to hurry", so you might end up moving fast on the trail to the caves to have time for both. Your choice really. Both companies have rave reviews. We used Major Tom at cave-tubing.net 'cause we wanted the zipline. We also saw reviews that show Major Tom and his guides impress their guests with information on Belize, its culture, the rainforest (Major Tom's opening on the rainforest was "the rainforest will feed you, clothe you, shelter you, cure you, or hurt you if you do not know what you are doing") - we liked that. Also, they did not holler and scream in the caves, which the other outfit was fond of doing (?????). Thought that was quite dangerous. While the ATV must be great fun, so is the zipline - exhilarating. Like I said - your choice. At any rate, whoever you choose, be safe and have lots of fun.

Default Cave Tubing Training in Belize

Saw this on two other forum websites and thought it would be nice for all those interested in cave tubing in Belize to know about :

October 03, 2008

The Ministry of Tourism, BTB, and NICH have enforced safety regulations for Cave Tubing Tours. At a meeting in early September certain measures were agreed upon to govern the safety practices of tour guides and tour operators. This included a clear outline of who is responsible for making sure policies for use of caves are adhered to. Kenneth Williams is the Product Development Officer at the Belize Tourism Board.

Kenneth Williams, Product Development Officer

“The law is being enforced for safety of the guests, but it is not only for cave tubing it is for all high risk and water based activity. If they are in a national park that is governed by NICH then institute of Archaeology has that jurisdiction. If they are on in open river then it is at their own risk because no one has real jurisdiction over that. If they are at a national park NICH/Institute of Archaeology has the last say as to whether or not anyone can conduct any tours at that park. Mostly it is for safety that is number one.”

This meeting was followed by another meeting on Wednesday and the regulations were enforced yesterday. In addition to the measures, the Institute of Archaeology and the Belize Tourism Board will be providing all tour guides mandatory training before taking tours in the cave system. This includes a 2 to 3 day course on Caves and the ancient Maya, Cave Safety, Cave Ethics, Cave Geography and Regulations for operating in caves and a 5 day course on Swift Water Rescue, Advanced First Aid and Cave Rescue. The training will include penalties for not adhering to the newly enforced policies.

We used cave-tubing.com (Yhony and his guides) in October 06. We were all very impressed with the whole group of guides. They were very polite and quite entertaining. The bus trip to the caves was really nice with the guides filling us in on their culture, even giving us shots of cashew wine. We laughed more that day than the whole week combined.
ALSO they require NO PAYMENT in advance. They do not take your money until after the tour, this ensures that you have a great time and they work hard for their money!

Default Belize Cave Tubing & Zipline Canopy

We have had great experiences with X-stream Cave Tubing we have been on the cave tubing only and the cave tubing and zipline. Both were amazing! We were met in the port and our group was very small and the guides were excellent. Great company and great tour

Yhony is cheaper that Major Tom for one reason....Yhony does not pay the fee to be inside "The Village".

Yhony picks yo u up and drops you off at the front door.....so he saves you from picking up the fee from being "inside".

"The Village" is that area in Belize that is inside the fence.

We have used Yhony and he did an excellent job.

If it is Carnival and it floats....we have sailed it!

Hubby ... DIAMOND (every ship except the Carnivale)
Me ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale)
20 year old son ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale...he is the only DOUBLE Milestone under the age of 21)
24 year old son ... DIAMOND

cave-tubing.net guarantees getting you back to the tender in time. They even state that they have a tender on stand by just in case the last tender has left. Does anyone know if .com has ever had problems getting customers back to the ship?
