We were just there last Tuesday, the 4th. Now we were with NCL, but we had a great time! We just walked from the pier to Coxen Hole and did some souvenir shopping. We found some of the most unique & cheapest items on our cruise here! If you do go, find Yaba Ding Ding's & New Souvenirs, they speak English, are very friendly to cruisers and there's a great little bar behind Yaba's. The two shops are pretty much across the street from each other. We were surprised to find that Cozumel was actually not the best place to buy Mayan items because they are all produced in mass by the Mexican Government! Bring bug spray and prepare for locals following you and trying to get you to buy everything!

I will likely want to return again once they finish the new "Tourist Village".

Hope you get to visit the island and enjoy it as much as we did.

Default Roatan

Well i hope all is well there now, we will be there in a few weeks and we just booked a private snorkeling and family fishing excursion with http://roatancruiseexcursions.com so I would hate to miss this port, the kids are so excited.

Do they have problems like this alot here?

Just curious if all ships have been stopping in Roatan lately. Is there still unrest due to the electricity issue? I love the beaches there, and am scheduled to stop there on NCL's Pearl in late March.

Default Roatan, Honduras

Hi,
I live on the mainland in La Ceiba, Honduras. You need to check with the Cruise Line about Roatan as a stop but the unrest is over. It was about the high cost of Electricity on the Island. For Hondurans, about the only way they can make themselves heard by the Gov., who controls Electric and telephone, is to block roads etc and prevent commerce from occuring. The loss of cruise ship passenger income was a disaster for the island and it got attention.
I used to work for the guy who owns Jolly Roger Cruises and his tours are fun. I rebuilt several of the Cats and they are pretty good.
Have fun, Russty
