Default Costa Maya-suggestions needed

We are headed there for the first time since the hurricaine. Would like to hear from someone that has been there since? How much is re built? I loved the shopping plaza with the swim up bar. Is that back? How about snorkling places, and great beaches???

Check through your ship's shore excursions. I know there was a good beach there.. Sorry, can't remember the name of it. I haven't heard of anyone recently there to know if they built up the pier area, it was nice before the hurricane.

Default Costa Maya Beaches

I think the name of the one that the cruise ships use is Overo or Uvero, something like that.

We are booked at the Costa Maya Exclusive Beach break its at Pez Quatro, if you've been to the town, its the one near the end of the main road, it had the swings around the bar and from what I remember, the nicest sand and entrance into the water. It wasn't rocky or grassy like some of the other locations. With our reservation we were guarenteed beach loungers and a palapa which is great as we are going to do their ATV tour before so they will hold the chairs and Palapa for us. Its a great bonus, the town is nice but it was so hard to find a chair the last time we were there, just not enough to go around

We visited in February and much of the fishing village is rebuilt.

We visited El Faro - it was a little bar/restaurant on the beach side. We took a taxi into the village and walked a short distance.

They had wonderful chairs right on the beach and tables and umbrellas available for dining. Food was good, beverages were ice cold - great beach massage $20 for 45 minutes. Ordered a bucket of beer, nachos and non-alcoholic drinks for the kids and the bill was less than $30 US.

Took a taxi ride back and had drinks at the swim up bar right there at the cruise port.

Great day in Costa Maya.

Enjoy and safe sailing

We did this one and didn't think it was worth it. Water was very grassy where we were, the only loungers that were left were broken (another ship's excursion was there ahead of us) and the drinks were pretty watered down. I don't recommend it.

We visited Costa Maya last week. At the pier's shopping area was a huge, free, beautiful, pool w/ free lounge chairs and lots of stores. The pier area was very nice and clean. We took the bus ($3 per person, tickets from a booth/counter at the pier exit, about a 10 min. ride) to Majahual beach. The water was calm, clear, clean and warm. The lounge chairs (sponsored by restuarants who would like your business) were free, lots of stores and places to eat on the shore. We paid $25 for 50 minute massages on the beach (they don't change the sheet on the massage table so use your own beach towel). A banana boat captain had not yet had any takers, so our family of 4 got a 30 min ride for $30. We took a taxi (lots available) back to the pier for $2 per person.
