Well I am planning on doing a snorkel tour on my own with a local company. Just have not booked it yet. I am actually home for the next six weeks on a medical leave and about all I can do is surf the net so when I find a good one I will get back and post about it.
There is not really much to do there
At the port is the shops, a beach, Margaritaville (sp?)
you can go scuba diving, snorkeling not much in the town a few miles away
LOVED Grand Turk. It is a pretty simple, clean, beautiful island. We did the Dune Buggy excursion through Carnival. It was so much fun. We drove all over the island. Right at the pier the Margartiville is awesome. There is a very nice pool that is right on the beach. At the time (2006) there was no charge to go in there and swim or lay by the pool. There are wild horses/donkeys roaming around. I thought it was a pretty cool place. Someplace you could live. Very little shopping, but that could have changed by now. The cruise ships actually had just started stopping there when we went. LOVED IT!

Are you a beach person? I also loved Grand Turk. My son and I grabbed a taxi from the pier and went to Pillory Beach. The island is not very developed and absolutely beautiful. Pillory Beach has a diving center and a little restuarant. Ate by far the best fresh fish sandwich I've ever had with a local beer. The beach was beautiful and there was hardly anyone there. Would highly recommend it. The taxi driver returned for us at a designated time and stopped at the souviener stands on the way back to the pier. We still had a little time to grab a drink and shop a little.
Does Pillory Beach have lounge chairs to rent? I love the beach but hate to lay right on the sand with a towel, especially after getting nice and wet. Can anyone recommend any other beach to relax and enjoy a beer?
We will have a 1 year old with us, so we need something fun and COOL for her.
We have a 6 month old! Mad I know! So, I would also be grateful for suitable activities. Diving could be an option for us for a little while as my parents are coming with us and could care for the baby for a while but it would be good if there was somewhere cool for them to keep the baby. I think the beach itself would be too hot for little one.
Grand Turk is only 7 miles long and just over 1 mile wide. Population is approx. 5,000. It's the capital and seat of the Turks and Caicos govt. It's a favourite destination for divers.
There are white sand beaches, a National Museum and a small herd of wild horses and donkeys. With the coming of cruise ships they have also opened the Old Prison and Lighthouse.
The new cruise terminal opened at the southern end of the island in 2006.
I'll be there in December, sounds like it will be a quiet day.

Found the website below. The Sand Bar grille sits right on the beach. Good food and a nice place to relax. Do not judge the Sand bar by the outside. It is a small deck covered by blue tarps when we were there. The guy working was very nice. The view is great.
