I saw some people get off Freedom of the Seas on their own custom Harleys. I wonder how much that is.

Well, I will never own or rent a Harley. Horrible motorcycles. More of a sports bike fan(think Ducati). In any case, I am wondering which of the two options is better to get around the island for a minimal price. I will be on Carnival, though the info isn't necessarily relevant.
knowing the way the roads are and the way that people drive in St.Martin i would say definately do not rent a scooter, people drive on the sidwalks! If you know where you want to go then i would look into a car rental. If you just want to relax and see the sights then go for the taxi
I am planning to spend most of my day at Orient Bay and Galion Bay, with some side jaunts to Marigot and Grand Case for probably a half hour to an hour each. End the day with shopping in Philipsburg.
There have been reports of stuff stolen from rental cars.
There is a post here somewhere with details on getting around STM..just use the search feature for taxi and st maartin or click on our name and look though past posts...perhaps 4 moths ago maybe?
