Default Montego Bay and Grand Cayman Beaches

We have attempted to make these ports 3 times and made them only once due to bad weather. We booked some nice excursions there and enjoyed them. Hooray - we are booked again for May 2010. This will be our 15th Carnival cruise so we are definatly not Newbies. However, we may have some Newbies going with us this time and they want to just find a beach or local area to hang out for the day. If we were going to Cozumel, Progreso or Nassau we would know right where to send them, but since we spent our time in these ports on Carnival excursions before, we are not sure what we can do outside of the excursions. Any suggestions anyone?

Not sure about Montego Bay, but in Grand Cayman, there is 7 mile beach, just a short cab ride from the pier. Also a bit farther away and a boat ride, would be Rum point.

See if Beaches or Sandals offers a day pass to their resorts in Montego Bay....honestly to my mind, in this port, that will be the best option.

Thanks. We went to the 7 Mile beach on an excursion the last time we were there, but wondered if there was a specific public beach area that we could use, or even a private one with a reasonable fee, like Paradise Beach in Cozumel.

There is a great beach in Montego Bay - Doctor's Cove, its a fairly short cab ride from the pier, the beach is neat, clean, has facilities, there is a restaurant and bar, and a water trampoline. I don't know if they rent beach chairs, as we just brought our towels and plunked ourselves down under a palm tree. Make arrangements for round-trip transporation, your cab will be waiting for you when you are ready to go back to the ship. Marqueritaville is basically next door if that might interest you. If you are looking for an all-day inclusive then i would suggest Sunset Beach Resort.

As for Grand Cayman - 7 mile beach is a public beach.

The beaches in Grand Cayman are free, but the facilities (chairs, umbrellas, etc), aren't.

You can just plop down a beach towel if you wish.

Sunset Beach Resort in MoBay was under renovation when I was there, but I still had a great time.
