Our cruise stops at St. Maarten. My husband and son are so excited to be able to see the airport where the planes come in right over the beach. We'd like to do a snorkeling excursion but should have more time to do something else too. What is the best way to get from the cruise port to this beach/ airport? How long will it take?

I dont know exactly, I have never heard of an airport beach. The island is fairly small however and a taxi ride anywhere should not be more than about $20. Just be sure to arrange a ride back to the ship if it is not a popular tourist beach.

You are talking about Maho Beach. Aprox $20 for a taxi was correct last year. Not sure if it has gone up. It did take quite a while to get from airport to cruise ship dock because of traffic. Maybe 45 min or more.
There are some video clips of the planes landing on YouTube.
