I am heading to Costa Maya, Cozumel, Belize and Grand Cayman in September and I am looking to see if I find some kind of culinary excursion. Maybe learning to cook native dishes or even picking out the right avocados for guacamole.
Some excursions might have a local meal included, but if you really want to learn about local foods I'm afraid you will probably be pretty much on your own. Perhaps you can find something like a local extension service - alternatively you could research local restaurants and try to shadow their chefs - could be expensive though.
