My other hobby, besides cruising, is cycling and even though we are driving to New Orleans for our next cruise- my husband says I cannot take my bike ; {. I'm looking for suggestions on shops/places to rent a bike to ride while we are in Nassau & Freeport.
I prefer a road bike, can bring all my silly bicycle clothes- any input welcome.

The roads in Nassau are very narrow and even riding in a cab scares me. HAHAHA Freeport is more wide open. You just have to be very very careful if you do that.
Call your cruise line and ask about wether you can bring your bike. I will tell you that if you do bring it, it will be in your cabin with you. Unless you have one of those little fold-up bikes, its going to take up significant space. Just a thought.
You may have to do more research to find a good bike rental place.

If the cruise line doesn't offer any type of bike tour then i would suggest you go to the bahamas board of tourism web site, that might steer you in the right direction, ask your travel agent

Mr. Hub has already told me I cannot bring my bike in the cabin, let it ride on the balcony OR even borrow my brother's folding bike.
