Default Panama Canal Cruise on Princess in March 2011

What are the not to be missed excursions on a 15 day los angeles to Ft Lauderdale cruise via the Panama Canal. Does anyone have specific independent tour operators or favorite ones in Panama,Cartegena, cabo san lucas, costa rica or acupulco? Is visiting the indian village in Panama worthwhile or a tourist trap ? Is anyone going on the March 15th trip on the Island Princess? Thanks for any help. Roberta and Jerry

Can't help you with Panama, but Cabo is a nice port to just get off of the ship and look around. There is a lot of water sports to do, too, if that is your thing. Also, you can take one of the "glass bottom boat" rides cheaply from the locals. They will drop you off at any beach you want to go to and come back and pick you up.

Cartagena is one of the few ports where we took the cruise line's advice and only booked the ship's excursions. Sticking strictly to the ship's vans and strictly to the established and patrolled tourist sites we felt safe, but venturing out on our own with an independent guide would not have been comfortable there.

Have a GREAT cruise!
