We did an independent tour through Cosol St. Lucia Tours. It was a full day, but we stopped by a banana plantation, a drive-in volcano, a waterfall/botanical gardens, we got to snorkel at a site in between the Piton Mts, and we got fed lots and lots of yummy food. There were a couple other stops for shopping/views/snacks, etc. The staff was VERY knowledgable and friendly, and I would highly recommend it!
Cosol are supposed to be good, but I must say the "volcano" is a waste of time, just smelly mud holes bubbling gasses. St. Lucia is a very green jungly island so anything that involves that is good, the beaches though are not exactly spectacular, darkish sand too. Take care with personal security on all Caribbean islands & take NO notice of those who say they are perfectly safe.
Well now, contrary to previous posts, we thought that the "drive through" volcano was a fascinating place to visit and were duly impressed. It was, to us, much more interesting than Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, for instance.
We booked with St Lucia Reps (St. Lucia Reps - Welcome to St. Lucia) and had an excellent tour, a very pretty and scenic drive through the banana plantations and by the pitons, and time to explore the volcano and inhale the sulphurous fumes to clear our sinuses!
