We will be stopping in Aruba on one of our Princess Cruises Southern Caribbean Medley cruise in 2011..one of our port stops is Aruba..yayyyy!! does anyone know, is there a beach we can go to that would be close to the downtown Aruba bar scene?

There is a lot of beaches in Aruba, lots of hotels as well. YOu can get a taxi and they and they can drop you at a hotel/beach that welcomes cruise passengers. There is also a huge bus station close to the pier that can tell you want beach to go to, very easy and inexpensive that way too.

You might check out the shore excursion called "Catamaran, Snorkel, Barbecue, and Beach" or something similar. On this excursion, a catamaran picks you up a the cruise ship pier and takes you up the coast to two snorkeling spots (snorkel, vest, and fins provided), then to the operator's pier where they serve a barbecue lunch in a shack on the pier. There's also a gorgeous beach right next to the pier where you'll have some time for swimming before the catamaran takes you back to the ship. And of course, crew of the catamaran serve beverages, with adult beverages after the second snorkel stop and on the return to the ship.
