Taking a cab to Magen's Bay - St. Thomas

Last time I went to Magen's Bay, it was with DH and we booked the excursion through the cruiseline.

This time, we will have two little kiddies, and we are thinking of taking a cab.
Any ideas on cab far?

Also, are cabs in abundance for the trip back? I don't want to risk getting stuck.

We did this in Cozumel with Crystal Beach, but there was a huge cab stand and no problem betting back to the ship.

If getting a cab back might be risky ... then we might do the ship tour.

My wife and I took a cab, which was a small mini van. No problems at all. Lots of cabs at the cruise port and also they line up at the beach. They run back and forth all day. Cheaper then the cruise lines and you can negotiate the price, which wasn't that much anyways.

You shouldn't have any problems getting a cab back, they actually have some that wait to take a group back. They usually go through downtown, in case you want to get off there and do a little shopping, otherwise just stay on until you reach the cruise port. Almost all the same stores are right by the port and an easy walk back to your ship.

The last time we were in St. Thomas (Dec.09) we took a cab from Havensight to Megans Bay and I'm pretty sure it $8 p.p. each way plus the $4 for the beach. We came back on a trolley for the same $8. All kinds of trolleys and cabs waiting to take you back when you're ready. I think it's a great spot for kids-no sudden drop offs on the beach, washrooms, snack bar. We had a great day there. Hope you enjoy it.

Meagans Bay Beach is gorgeous but with kiddies in tow you might want to consider Coki Beach and Coral World, its a more kid friendly beach imo

Coki beach scares me because of what happened earlier this year. besides, my kdis are not into water sports yet, they are just 3 and 4 (my daughter will be 5 by the time we sail). THey really just want to build sandcastles.

Frankly, I'm even a bit scared by Magen's Bay being so close to Koki.
